Camp-by-camp
Most vaccinations in 2026 came from the Laisamis multi-edition campaign and the integrated Loiyangalani medical camp. Schools-edition camps recorded their school count; manyatta editions used village-level outreach instead.

By campaign format
Health Yetu runs HPV camps in two distinct formats — each optimised for a different access challenge in Northern Kenya.
In-school vaccination at primary schools, aged 9–14. Lower transport costs — the girls come to you.
Outreach to manyattas and villages for out-of-school girls. Transport-heavy — the team drives village to village.

The journey
From the first 148-girl pilot in South Horr to a 747-vaccination Schools Edition in Logo Logo, here is every HPV camp Health Yetu has run since March 2025.
148girls vaccinated
The first Health Yetu HPV camp. A pilot in the highland community of South Horr that proved the model could work in the north.
601girls vaccinated
Return visit two months later — word had spread. Four times the dose count of the pilot, in the same community.
452girls vaccinated
First Samburu camp outside South Horr — a Schools Edition that opened the Archers Post corridor.
453girls vaccinated
First foray into Marsabit, along the wind-blown shoreline of Lake Turkana.
456girls vaccinated
Run concurrently with Loiyangalani — a second team, a second community, the same month.
664girls vaccinated
The highest single-camp count of 2025 — Kargi turned out in force.
480girls vaccinated
Return to Korr two months on — the first Manyatta-style sweep through the surrounding villages, reaching out-of-school girls.
706girls vaccinated
A joint medical camp with Naret and Women Rising — 1,267 total beneficiaries across all services; HPV doses to 706 girls.
835girls vaccinated
Nine schools vaccinated; a tenth — Olturot — was educated but went without doses after a vaccine shortage.
640girls vaccinated
Twenty manyattas reached against twelve planned — 96% of the target dose count, delivered village by village.
523girls vaccinated
Thirty-one villages in five days. The team vehicle was stranded overnight in the Kamotony River — and the camp still finished on schedule.
545girls vaccinated
Thirteen schools visited; 998 girls educated, including those out of formal schooling.
430girls vaccinated
Three schools, 820 girls educated, and 750 sanitary towels distributed alongside the vaccine.
747girls vaccinated
The latest visit, and the largest Schools Edition yet — a fitting close to sixteen months of work.
Notable moments
Numbers travel best when you can see the people and the obstacles. These three are from this year's campaigns.
The first Laisamis Manyatta Edition planned to visit 12 nomadic settlements. The team reached 20 — and vaccinated 640 girls, 96% of the target. The model now scales across Marsabit's remote pastoral communities.
On day three of the second Laisamis Manyatta campaign, the field vehicle got stranded overnight in the Kamotony River crossing. 117 girls were missed in two villages — but the team still vaccinated 523 girls across 31 villages. The bottleneck is logistics, not demand.
The Loiyangalani integrated medical camp vaccinated 835 girls across 9 schools — but Olturot Primary missed the vaccination round due to a cold-chain vaccine shortage. The girls were educated about HPV and added to the return-visit list. They are not forgotten.
What one camp costs
One Health Yetu HPV camp ranges €4,000–€6,000 depending on edition and location. Each camp vaccinates 750–1,000 girls aged 9–14. That works out to roughly €5 per girl all-in — vaccine, cold chain, personnel, transport, and social mobilisation, all included.
750–1,000 girls aged 9–14 · 4–5 schools · 5–6 days
In-school vaccination at primary schools, aged 9–14. Lower transport costs than manyatta editions — the girls come to you.
* Vaccines are free. HPV doses are supplied by KEMSA / Ministry of Health at no cost. The €300 line covers only syringes, gloves, and cold-chain consumables — every donor euro funds delivery, not the vaccine itself.
750–1,000 girls (out-of-school) · 20–30 villages · 5–7 days
Outreach to nomadic settlements where girls are out of school. Transport is the biggest single cost driver — long drives between villages over rough terrain. In April 2026 the team's vehicle was stranded overnight in the Kamotony River; the camp still finished.
* Same as Schools edition. Vaccines are free via KEMSA — only consumables are in the budget.
Real budget from Laisamis Schools Edition (3–9 May 2026). Other camps fluctuate ±20% based on location and edition type.

Cost to date
Approximately €70,000 has been spent across 14 HPV camps from March 2025 to June 2026. Winds of Change has been the principal partner, covering every camp in Laisamis Constituency (Marsabit County). Two camps — Archers Post (June 2025) and West Gate (January 2026) — fell outside that geography and were funded from Health Yetu’s own reserves and partner contributions.

The €75,000 plan
Health Yetu is fundraising €75,000 per year to take HPV vaccination to scale in Northern Kenya. At an average €5,000 per camp, that’s 15 camps annually — enough to reach 10,000–15,000 girls each year. Sustained over five years, that protects 50,000–75,000 girls for life.
